I bet you feel fatigued/sluggish through the day, losing the wrong type of weight, and far from the cliché “Sharp as a tack”. I can’t stress enough the importance of starting out with a well-balanced meal.. well, maybe I can.
You’ve just woken up after a six-eight hours nights worth of sleep and obviously haven’t eaten. So right now, your body is looking for the quickest/easiest source of food that that would be your muscles. Yes, your body will eat your muscles before it does fat if it isn’t fed well. If you’re looking to lose that baby fat, you need to eat!
You’ll have more energy in for the mornings if you have a breakfast, you will also notice higher levels of focus and concentration since your brain is fueled by carbohydrates. If you aren’t thinking right, you might just end up making the wrong choices in what you should eat. That’s a double-edged sword and you’re wielding nothing but your jammies and fuzzy slippers.
You’re probably not the breakfast-type me thinks, so I’ll tell you now, start with something you like such as Eggos, or bagels and ween yourself off onto toast, eggs, and/or oatmeal. Something that will give a good ratio between protein:carbohydrates:fat. (The ratio will depend if you’re gaining mass, losing weight, or even both.) If you have a spouse, girlfriend, boyfriend or even mom, have them fix you something. Food always tastes better when someone else makes it.
So all-in-all, train yourself to eat when you wake up. It’s detrimental to your goals if you don’t; break your fast. Get it? Breaking fast - breakfast? Bahh, but you already knew that you smartypants.
